Today I talked to all of the guys in the band When Everything’s Taken if you like breakdowns then you will love this band they have some brutal breakdowns that would make you punch your grandma!! I hope you go out them and see them after reading this.
How did When Everything’s Taken form?
WET: “We started a little over a year ago. Josh and Quintin (our guitarists) were in a project together before and decided to start jamming some songs. There was a different drummer and a void of a bassist. Lyle and Josh work together at a music store and Josh invited Lyle to join up. Will and Josh have known each other for a long time and also have played together before. Will was a perfect fit for what we were looking for, so naturally, we brought him in. WET was instrumental for a little bit, going between vocalist ideas till eventually we found Alec about 6 months ago. Once Alec grabbed the mic in a rehearsal and played “Separation”, we all knew it was a perfect fit. We’ve been going strong ever since.”
Have you got a good response on your debut EP?
WET: “Yeah, I’d say so. We’ve heard a lot of good things from the fans. “
What made you guys wanna go with heavy guttural vocals to throw in some cleans?
WET: “I don’t think it was a conscious choice to do that. It’s a fairly common thing in modern metal to do a blend of styles. It just happened to fall into place like that. Alec does mostly screaming, so we were trying to find the best clean vocalist. Will could sing better than the rest of us. “
What shows you guys got coming up?
WET: “We’ve got one on the 14th in Oshkosh at the Reptile Palace. We’ve also got a couple near the end of the month and next month. We’re actually in the early stages of getting a small tour set up for August. Nothing is really set in stone, but we’re excited to get out there and show more people what we have to offer. Book us!”
Who are your influences?
WET: “I think this question is a bit different for each of us. I’ll list each individually for the sake of not leaving anything out.
Alec: Carnifex, Whitechapel (old), Korn Josh: AFI, Nine Inch Nails, Love and Death Quintin: All Shall Perish, Devil Driver (old), In Flames Lyle: Mudvayne, Victor Wooten, Thrice Will: Mesuggah, Lamb of God, Led Zeppelin”
What do you guys do when not making music?
WET: “Again, this is weird question for us to answer. We’re all totally different people. Nothing about this band should work. There are a few common threads between us, but we’re all pretty different. We’ve got a straight-edge drummer, a bassist who smokes too much, a guitarist who drinks too much, a power-lifter guitarist, and a vocalist who doesn’t fully fall into any of those categories. We all hang out together and do each of those respective things. It’s an interesting blend of people, so it makes for some interesting times. “
Can we expect another EP in this year?
WET: “Not an EP, but we’re probably going to release a single in the near future. We’ve got plans to put together a full-length which will probably be out around January or February next year. We’ll see what happens. For the time being, we’ve just been enjoying what this release is bringing us and hope it continues to grow as it has. “
What would you like to tell your fans?
WET: “Keep spreading the word about us and THANK YOU for all the support thus far. It means the world to us.
